reaccuring eye problems and abscesses.

lizardman24 Nov 28, 2012 02:14 PM

Hey guys. My brother has a leopard gecko. She is a bell enigma morph and has the neurological walking around in circles and stargazing problem. every year or two she will get eye infections in one, or both eyes and will get an abscess on her face. we have taken her to the vet a couple times and we are recommened soaking her in case it is stuck shed, and gives us a cream for the abscess. im thinking it might be stuck shed, but i am not too sure this time. is there a reason this keeps happening? also what can i do to make her better? thanks

I had a Tangerine who had the same problem. It's called Enigma syndrome. Watch it carefully and have it housed by itself. Mine had a seizure and died 3 days ago. We had her for 2 years with no seizures but keep an eye on yours. During seizures they lose partial control and things like substrate end up lodged in their mouths and can clog the epiglottis. As for the eye problems- another one of mine has an eye irritation caused from shedding and has been squinting. We're using gel eye drops- I forgot which kind it is but it has to be a specific kind- research it though. It works.
