kane heat mats in the substrate?

gigantor Dec 03, 2012 09:27 AM

Hi,
Is it possible in anyway to put my kane heat mats directly into or under 12" of cypress mulch, to heat from below for my monitor lizard?

It says right on the mat not to cover with any type of foreign material, due to fire risk. thanks Bob

Don't bury them. You need an air gap of some sort around these mats. They'll overheat due to no way to disperse heat and are dangerous buried down into something, same as a waterbed heating pad buried in dirt.
