Hondos to Hamm in March.

GotMilks Jan 02, 2013 08:29 AM

Hi guys,

Happy new year.

I am from the UK and trying to source some top quality Hondos. Are any of you shipping to or attending Hamm in April? The UK has died regarding to Lamps completely. There's literally only a handful left who are dealing with them.

In the past I managed to have a great collection with stock from Bill Love line and also Jaap Kooji line. I had to heart breakingly sell up due to a pretty serious motorcycle accident which led to me losing my job.

Any Info or European contacts would be greatly appreciated.

You are doing a great job, loved looking through the posts from 2012.

Thanks. Danny

I totally agree about it being very lame over there regarding Lampropeltis. There will be some nice stuff sent over there from several breeders here, but it definitely won't be by March. I'm sure that it will be coordinated after this next late summer/fall hatchlings have been produced for cost efficiency and much better animal variety. There's also a little something else going to the UK later on that should help with kick-starting more interest back into certain triangulum...

cheers, ~Doug

Thanks Doug. Sounds very interesting. I myself gave up years ago trying to get hold of pure lampropeltis. Everything is just interbred rubbish. We are hard pushed to find anything of quality at all. I have a real soft spot for the hobby hondo. I know people get fed up of hearing about them but to me I think the most fantastic looking snake out there is an extreme hypo. Simply stunning.

Can't wait to get my hands on a nice project. 2 empty racks here ready to roll.

I'm relatively new here myself... though I've never really thought about it I've always assumed that what was available here in the U.S. was also available overseas... interesting to learn that is not the case. Hope you manage to find something that will please you.

I do agree with your view on "hobby hondos"... some great looking animals out there...more than a few that would be great to have if I could afford everything.

Hi,

It just so happens I found your site yesterday. I look forward to potential future trading. Some truly fantastic lamps you have.

Out of interest what Hondos will you be working with in 2013?

Regards

Danny

Thanks for the link. It seems its still reasonably alive in Europe it's just England that is lacking. Hopefully there is a couple of us who can change that. Once I have got my Hondo project on the go I have another rack here for all sorts of Triangulum. Things are all looking good!

It's true that Lampropeltis have a very small following in Europe... I cannot fathom why, especially since some of the most spectacular and easy to maintain snakes are Kingsnakes and Milksnakes.

Here, ball pythons rule. If you offered me one for free, I would gladly give it away to anyone interested!

Yeah, I will never understand this either. Why don't they just collect painted rocks?. Hopefully it will get better over in the UK soon in regards to Lampropeltis.

and you say they're 100% stuarti and it's just an aberrant color phase? I'll have to have a look at his website and see if he provides more info about them. Wouldn't mind having a pair of them myself.

Good to see more about than previously thought. I have got some fantastic quality extremes coming from Don Shores for March but certainly be in contact when I plan on adding to the collection.

Once my Honduran project gets going I will be looking at adding a Pueblan project involving Oreos and halloweens. Then I will be concentrating on getting a small group of cosala Sinaloans and locality milks.

I really feel that we can bring back the popularity of Triangulum in the Uk. I am forever seeing intergrades it's got to a point where something needs to be done.

I'm with you on the battlefield Dan!

Superb purchases coming, something the UK's been waiting for.

Thanks Scott.

Hopefully things will start to look up. Just by browsing the uk forums its clear to see that it's going to be an uphill struggle. I really can not see why l.t has come out of favour.
