Can someone please explain to me about the Lacey act? I don completely understand why I can't purchase a Burmese Python from my local pet store. I called them earlier today and they told me they aren't readily available like they used to be because you can only purchase them in the state you reside. I don't know of any burmese python breeders in TN. I had a Burmese Python when I was younger and I have to say the Burmese is one of my favorite Pythons. If anyone can point me to a breeder in TN I would love to find them.

The reason I don't understand is because I can purchase a Retic, but not a Burm. She had to be the coolest snake I have ever owned. the whole Lacey act is a bunch of crap. I don't know all of what it comprises: but I am sure it's ful of crap. @hy don't they ban dogs or cats? They cause more injuries per year than snakes. Don't mess with 4 things in my life, 1. The Constitution, 2. Family, 3. My guns and 4. My snakes.

Well without making it too complex, a number of reptiles were deemed "injurious" by US Fish and Wildlife. Injurious is just their way of saying the animals are potentially harmful to humans and the environment. As a way to counteract the popularity of the listed animals they were added to a federal wildlife act that actually was never intended to be applicable. So now its a felony (LMFAO) to transport the Lacey act animals across state lines.
I'm sure someone has surplus Burms in TN. I know a lot of breeders scaled down their ops because they wouldnt be able to liquidate the offspring.
Good Luck
