My 1994 Sinaloan milksnake

DISCERN Jan 27, 2013 12:44 AM

My oldest snake in my collection is Samuel AKA " Sammy ", who was born in 1994, and produced by Stan Grumbeck in TX.

This year, he will be 19 years old. He is doing good, and still kicking it!

He is my good buddy, and when he goes, I hope it won't be such a pain to obtain another yet actual Sinaloan milksnake!!

Since it is scientific fact that actual Sinaloans ARE different than Nelsoni, once he goes, I wonder how long it will take for me to obtain the real deal Sinaloan milksnake. I say that, with the sadness that is obtained by seeing how people breed these days, with thinking Sinaloans are the same as Nelsoni, when in actuality, they actually are NOT!

Oh well...I am just enjoying having a real Sinalaon milk!

Nice Milk! So cool to have an animal thrive for so long!

Don't worry there are still pure sinaloae out there...you just have to look closely on this forum.

i work with tri-colored west mexican lampropeltis. some morph, some hobby, and some locale.

everyone is entitled to their options, but no one's opinion will ever change how i feel about the snakes i keep and breed.

Awesome L.t.sinaloae there Billy!

It won't be a problem at all locating another one for you later on Billy. Just don't expect one to be found on any "Joe Blow's" show table or in a pet shop tank, that's for darn sure...LOL!!

As mentioned by the others, it's just that most folks don't know where to obtain the un-compromised lines that haven't been crossed at some point or another. Because if most people DID KNOW, then they would be mutts in a heartbeat all over again. Sadly, it's basically the same thing with just about everything else in the hobby mainstream....*sigh*

Didn't you breed Sammy to another Sinaloan? If so, can you track down some progeny? Based on your post, it seems like the snake was a pet. Just curious why purity would be an issue if you are looking for a pet versus a breeding program?

No, I am not "flaming," I am asking in earnest.

DISCERN Jan 28, 2013 12:17 AM

No worries at all!!

I did breed him, but it was in the late nineties. Finding out where those babies went would be impossible.

As far are the purity issue, I would simply just like to be able to buy an actual Sinaloan, in the future. Not a cross with Nelsoni, but a true-blue Sinalaon. Just wanting to get what I pay good money for.

Understood, and thanks for the friendly reply. Maybe get two pure unrelated ones so you too can provide for those wanting pure in the future??? Maybe one day I'll want one

DISCERN Jan 28, 2013 08:27 PM

Not a bad idea my friend.

That is a kind of milk that really is special and unique, and would be worth promoting more babies.

Billy,

I had to laugh when I saw all the stuff about Stan and his sinaloan milks, Stan had a great line of those and they were indeed pure animals. He and I were set up at a show across from each other in Arlington that Bonnie was doing. Things had been really slow that show and as usual the dealers started selling to each other to make ends meet. I think I boiught about 40 milks and some god awful beautiful Knoblocki from Stan at that show. I added that line to some Lloyd Lemke animals I already had and have kept them around as I got them. Not as colorful sometimes as some of the color bred animals you see, but to me really pretty snakes just as they came out of the wild. Sorry it was so long, just the musing of an old herper.
