is he overweight?

lizardman24 Feb 13, 2013 02:38 PM

hey guys. flash my corn snake of 6 years recently has gotten a bit fatter, and i am worried about his health. he is about 3 feet long, but instead of 300 grams he weighs in at 400. is this an unhealthy snake? i usually feed him 2 medium mice every week. should i start reducing the amount i feed? i have added pictures for you guys to judge. thanks

looks fine to me.

the only over weight corns i've seen in person had a pudgy feel to their lower sides, if it doesnt feel pudgy, i'm sure it's good to go. imo a snake cant be too big as long as it's solid and strong feeling. you want to avoid a mushy feel, stretched/seperated scales, and things like that.

2 medium mice sounds a bit small for a 6 y/o, but it's obvously not starving so i guess keep doing what you're doing.

I was never quite sure what morph he is. I think he is a charcoal or maybe an anery like you said. The flash was on so the color may have been caused by that

I thought the same thing when I saw the pic. Never have seen a green cornsnake before.
