Polyzona Observation

gerryg Feb 17, 2013 09:24 AM

Seems to have been Shadows main interest yesterday evening. The male polyzona Gomez was out and about a great deal and the cat just couldn't get enough.

This morning, within two minutes of having turned the lights back on, Shadow took up her post again in hopes Gomez would come out to play. Funny how Shadow goes about her business for months with no interest in the snakes and then suddenly can't get enough of them.

And here's my hondo Delilah. Living up on the third floor she goes about her days without the shadow of an idea a cat is involved in her life.

There were cats in those photos?

captainjack0000 Feb 17, 2013 10:06 PM

Cuz all I saw were some pretty snakes.

I love your naturalistic vivaria. What brand are those tanks?

gerryg Feb 21, 2013 03:37 AM

Made them myself Rob so... Gerry Brand I guess?

It's actually 4 separate cages stacked atop one another as you can see in this first photo. The hole in the cage bottom is for a piece of glass and heat pad.

Finish panel in place... it just slides on and off with "z" clips.

And all finished with snakes in their homes... Ed occupies the second floor... a polyzona above and below him and the abnorma occupying the top floor.

Wow. Those are amazing, furniture-quality caging! Fantastic job building. What did it cost you in materials?

gerryg Feb 21, 2013 05:12 PM

Thanks Rob. I don't know what the cost was/would have been... all the material was free including the glass and aluminum sliding door track... "left overs" from my job as a cabinet maker.

I have a second stack of cabinets just like the ones in the photos that I had to buy the aluminum track and four pieces of glass for the doors... cost around $250 dollars. Conservative estimate if I had to pay for it all... $700 just in material... lot more obviously if the assembly labor hadn't been my own.
