2010 locality Okeetee Corn Snake

DISCERN Feb 24, 2013 10:32 PM

Today, the weather was nice, and I took a few quick pics of my locality Okeetee corn, produced by John Meltzer.

This snake descends from actual parents collected from the Okeetee area. Not simply given the name Okeetee, but is locality, and this is a treasure in my collection.

I get lost when I hold this snake and observe its' beauty and colors. Normal corns, such as this, to me, are just as beautiful, if not more, than any new fangled morph.

Every snake collection should have a normal corn. Locality or not, normal corns are so striking in their colors, and charm.

Super snake. Nice to see someone with a real locale of the oaks. I;m not putting down the oak phase, but it is nice to see what nature can produce.

a great looking animal. Much different than the one's you see for sale today. Looks like a form of hypomelanism. I would love to see more from that line. Congrats

Thanks!!

I never got into the thought process of calling something a locale, when they are simply not. What is being called " Okeetee " phase these days is what people THINK Okeetees should look like. Many specimens have been found with the thick, black borders, high orange, etc, but also, many come out of that locality looking very dirty, and ugly as well. You can even find ones that don't even originate near that locality, but look like what some are calling " Okeetee " corns. HA HA!!!

Oh well..marketing is all it is.

Disclaimer: I do keep several snakes in pairs, and some in groups. However I realize that things can go wrong, and I have to keep a close eye on those groups, to be sure they are not being adversely affected by these living conditions. Also if one happens to eat it's cagemate, it is 100% my fault, and I know the risks in advance!

What's wrong with using CAUTION?!?!?!
