I put her out on the front porch in the screen cage today to get some sun. When I brought her outside she was half in her little moist tub and stayed in this position for hours after I set the tub with her in it on the hide box. She has been eating a lot lately and seemed quite relaxed.

Later she finally moved.

She is a very good girl except when she is hungry!

Thanks, Billy!
She is now five feet long and weighed 1236 grams on February 7 when she came out of brumation. Since then she has been eating a lot of big fat old retired breeder mice and is even heavier now. I think she may reach 7 feet when full grown. She is slightly over 1 1/2 years old now.

She is beautiful, hope my little guy gets color like that.
Thanks for the advice on out side photo's. If it would ever act
like spring around here I might be able to get some.

Thanks!

Her natural color in sun. She has a sort of golden glow which I think comes from her Kingsville red genes, highlighting the Stillwater hypo yellow.

I'm looking forward to seeing your baby in natural light.

Very cool Bob.

How often and how much do you feed if you don't mind me asking?

pyromaniac Mar 02, 2013 06:12 PM

When they are growing I feed them as much as they want about every ten days. I just raise mice, no rats. I feed live until the mice can nip, then pre-kill. Generally I feed slightly smaller but multiple items at a feeding, which the snakes find easier to consume than just one humongous item they would have to struggle with.

Rozy is sort of a freak in my snake family, the only other really huge snake for its species being Gonzo the '08 Pacific who is 1314 grams and about five feet long and also loves to eat.

I also have an '08 pyro female who is 416 grams and about 42 inches long, another one who loves to eat. The polar opposite is Bitzi, a '10 pyro female who only weighs 26 grams, but is healthy non the less. She is not a big eater, obviously!
