It was forty-something degrees and windy today. Not the best weather, but sometimes the urge to go herping overrules the weather conditions. I decided to check out this area.

I was hoping to see some Blanding's Turtles, but had no luck seeing those "cold tolerant" herps. But there were other turtles out - triple Sliders.

Quadruple Painteds.

Birds were singing and some flowers were even starting to bloom, like Colt's Foot.

But then I saw something even more cool - the first snakes of the year - Eastern Garters.

Not a bad cold weather herping day at all!
