Carpet python. Likely Morelia bredli. Centralian python or Bredl's python. This is an escaped pet or a dumped snake. They are Australian.
Agreed,.....Tim (tbrophy)is absolutely correct on the ID. and the likely scenario. It's DEFINITELY either an escapee, was dumped (unlikely but very possible), or the story is fabricated BS.

A Carpet Python in a chicken coop wouldn't be that unusual, but certainly not in Alabama.
I'm not sure that is bredli either. That could just be a Carpet Python from coastal NSW or somewhere like that. That species is a lot more likely in a Chicken Coop than bredli due to where bredli lives.
Of course, if it is really Alabama, then all bets are off...although I still don't think it is bredli.
