Someone sent this to me after it was sent to them; they think it was taken in Northeast Alabama.
My best guess is an aberrant E. Garter Snake, but that's just a guess.

Of course, as soon as I posted, I thought "or maybe a Northern Brown, and for some reason I think it's a lot bigger than it really is."
It is a brownsnake (Storeria dekayi). It just looks big because of a trick of the perspective. It is on a high railing quite a distance above the shoes seen in the background.
