axanthic sonoran gopher

kingsnakeadam May 08, 2013 10:57 AM

I have this axanthic sonoran gopher, male, I was wondering about how big do male gophers need to be to be able to breed. I haven't measured him yet but he looks close to breeding size and eats adult mice, ill get a measurement tonight but just wanted some info on how long male gophers need to be.

This little San Diego gopher snake shown here squeezing the life out of my hand (LOL!) is three feet long and big enough to mate, which he has been doing all this week. His mate is quite a bit bigger than him, and tends to drag him around by his hemipenis (ouch!) when she is bored of him, but no harm seems to be done.

Cool sounds like he might be mature then, I got a decent measurement from him just with a tape measure and straitened him out the best I could and I got about 33 in.
