Question on Everglades growth

hfeil91 May 11, 2013 04:35 PM

Hey all, I have a 3ish year old everglades rat. Unsexed. He/she is a great eater, and is just over 4 feet based on my estimations. There was a short time period when it ate less frequently than usual, (maybe monthly?) for about 4-5 months. But is now back to 2 sm. adult mice every 7-10 days. Growth and weight have definitely picked up in the past couple months, however based on what I've read most are full grown if not very nearly full grown at 3. Mine is still quite slender for a full grown adult, doesn't have that enlarged rat snake head, and the lateral striping/yellowing is not nearly as prominent as I have been led to believe is the norm. Anyone have any thoughts or experience on a glades' taking this long to fully mature?

Thanks for looking

I guess this archaic photo sharing technology doesn't want to cooperate today.

4 feet is a little small but not that bad. Male ratsnakes are considered "mature" at as little as 100g. It has a pinhead because you are feeding inappropriate sized prey. Up him to Jumbo mice, or rat pups.
