What a lovely surprise!

Came home from a day trip Friday night to find nine new little o we exploring the cage! No slugs, mom looks healthy and ate right away. Have tried to feed a round of pinkys (what I had on hand) only three of the six have eaten so far. This is my first attempt at breeding, so I'm still pretty green. Will continue to offer food each evening. Any suggestions, or tips in troubleshooting? I guess I had an idealistic assumption that the babies would be ravenous!

Congrats and welcome to the club!!

Only advice I can add from here is I only offer food once a week. They either eat or they don't. Depending on how full term the litter is, they can either eat right away or take up to a few weeks to start feeding.

Welcome to the club!!! Lets see some pics of your new babies. In addition to what Dave said, don’t be overly concerned if they all don’t start eating right away. Over the years I have had littermates that ate the first day and some that took up to a month to take that first meal.

Thanks for the pep fellas! Still trying to figure out the tech stuff. I used to use Flikr for photo mgmt, and am at a loss as to where to turn now that the service is limited. Resizing seems to be my biggest issue. Pics taken from my iPhone are too large to upload. Going to hit the "how to" section here shortly. Happy hump day! ^.^

Congrats on the litter! Not finding slugs if she'd already finished giving birth doesn't mean that there weren't any. Female rainbow boas will often eat them and I've even seen them eat them while they are still dropping babies out the back end! As long as your caging is set up for the babies to thrive in, I think you'll see a change in increased feeding within a week or two after their first shed. Good luck and enjoy!
