Gents
After keeping an Annectens and Jani for a few years now, I have finally got my first Sayi (semi spur of the moment, as I definitely wasn't having any more snakes!)and I wonder if you might be able to give me any info on it (Maybe even the guy who bred it?)
It was bred this year and imported from the US to the UK, and the guy I got it from said it "may" have been a Stillwater Hypo.
It is such a stunning snake that I could not resist it, but I would just be interested if anyone could point to a likely locale.
i only have 2 photo's as it is new to me, so I don't want to maul it too much for a few days.

Thanks for looking.

Paul

Edit, just seen a "hypo stillwater" in another thread, and it didn't look much like my animal!
Still interested in anyone's theorys though.

Its likely just a generic bull....maybe sanoran, that snake will undergo some color change as it grows and it could be quite spectacular. Even a normal wild type is gonna be amazing looking if you like it already. The other thing is if you got it overthere its likely a het or multihet from someones project. Conhrats on your first...these have alot of personality!

That thing is awesome! Great score my friend!
Yes, that is NOT a Stilwater Hypo bull.
However, it is, to me, a normal bull, but I firmly believe normal bulls are much more colorful, and have so much more going in all of their colors and patterns, than most morphs. That snake you have now is a beauty now, and will only get better looking with age!!
Congrats!! Keep us posted with pics please!!

Thanks for the opinions guys!
I'm just as happy to have a "normal" bull as any other, and being a seasoned pit keeper I'm used to the radical colour changes.
(Maybe the guy thought it would help with the sale?)
I suppose its comlicated when there can be so much variation between animals to begin with!

I have a bunch of "normals" too! They are the best ones! Are you sure the guy didnt say they were het for stillwater line hypo?

PaulF11 Jun 29, 2013 10:39 PM

Yeah, he could have done, maybe I stopped listening once I decided I had to have it!!!
Bulls come up very rarely over here now and I have been waiting a very long time for one. 20 years ago they were more common, but all the pits seemed to go out of "fashion".
Any I have seen in the last few years have looked suspiciously like bull/pine hybrids unfortunately, and may have been coming from the same source. I have been passing over them for so long I had given up.
There seems to be a revival of interest just starting again now though. Unfortunately I'm starting to get a bit too old for expanding the collection once more!

I would have to say normal as well, but a cutie just the same... bulls are my passion, whatever color they are.

This little snake has had its first shed in my possesion, and if anything seems slightly paler (is that a word?) having an almost silvery look to the neck, and a pinkish blush down the lower flanks from head to tail, and is much lighter than it appears in the original photo's.
If they change half as much as Jani, it won't look like that for long.
I'll give it another shed and put some more pictures on.

I don't care what it is/isn't as it is a nice calm little animal. No hisses, rattling or nips yet, he hasn't even formed a "S" for me.
Plenty of time though!
