Question on Southern Pine

carraig Jun 30, 2013 02:46 PM

I've never had the pleasure of working with pine snakes, although I see them offered on kingsnake and FC all the time. I have yet to see one that looks like this though (currently offered on FC). Is this normal for a southern pine or is it a morph of some sort? It looks nothing like ruthveni or the northerns.

Thanks,
-C

That pine in that ad looks like a lighter version of mine here:

In my limited experience and knowledge, normal southerns can vary a million shades and colors. However, this one I have appears to be some sort of morph.

Maybe someone that has more knowledge can chime in.

Just a nice looking S.Pine, northern range, maybe even WC. The blk mulch has an effect on true color, I'd buy it myself if I didn't live in Fla.... BTW what is is FC?

FC is faunaclassifieds. The other (and lesser) place online to buy/sell snakes.

I actually bought this Southern Pine. I picked it up yesterday along with the Duval locality male. Both are very nice, but the female is just amazing

Awesome. I was seriously considering it! Any chance you could take a pic of her on a different background? The other poster who indicated the black background made her stand out more had a great point. She is obviously a nice snake, but it would still be great to see her against a different background.

Also, do you have other Southern Pines? Do they look like her? The bright orange one that the other poster showed was very nice and completely different.

These are the first Southern Pines I have gotten. I've been looking for about 3 years for them. I did not want morphs either. As far as I can tell and what I believe these are natural looking Sothern Pines. They come in all sorts of shades and colors and they are kind of hard to come across, that may be why you have not seen any like it. The first 2 pics are of the female and the 3rd is the male, which is Duval County Locality.
I can't wait to breed these two! They are amazing naturally looking snakes!

Here is a Santa Rosa Co Pine.

That southern is a good looking snake. I prefer the lighter color to the darker colors of the others posted, and it makes what might of been a nice snake (your male) pale in comparison. I'm really curious about the locality because it just seems so light and clean compared to the others posted.

Thanks for the pics, it looks just as good against the green grass.

Carraig
