zonata how come there are so few for sale in the classifieds?
Tim
Well, I am going to go out on a limb with a wild guess...I think because they are harder to raise, i.e. get started feeding as babies, and are prone to a disorder called zonata disease, that is why they are not more popular in the trade. Also for the most part in California they are extremely restricted, except I think for algama.
Because of the above issues I keep pyros instead.

Keeping cats allows man to cohabitate with tigers. Keeping reptiles allows man to cohabitate with dinosaurs.
There are a select few keeping and breeding them, there never has been a large number available on the market!
I keep/breed them but have been selling them out of the egg because of the lack of time to get them started. I work with six locales and three ssp. Juarez agalmas are pretty common as it is legal to keep in California. Dave Katz up in Berkley, CA has 30 or so babies right now and I'm sure he's gotten some started already. In my opinion, still one of the prettiest North American snakes and well worth the effort to work with.
