New Christmas Mountain Sonoran

carraig Jul 02, 2013 10:52 AM

A local guy here in Kansas City gave this yearling girl away for nothing because his kids lost interest. He bought her as a Big Bend locality Christmas Mountain Sonoran at the KC reptile show last year.

Any ideas on what breeder in the KC area breeds locality P. c. affinis?

She is different, with the skull and crossbones markings in the light blotches and the great reds that run up half her length, but I don't know enough about the Christman Mountain locality snakes to know if this would be considered a good one. Knowing that Sonorans often get brighter colors with age, this girl could become a screamer.

Any ideas? She is still pretty small, ie. medium adult mouse size food.

Sorry about the bad pic, the carpet washes out a lot of her color. Picture cropped but otherwise unedited.

I actually work north of KC and am only maybe 30min from St Joe during the work week. Are you going to make it to the KC show this weekend? I haven't been there before and can't vouch for it, but as it's local I'll go anyway.

Tell you what. You find my Applegate female a suitable mate and I'll gift you one of their offspring. I am completely striking out even getting a lead for anybody else with adults they'd be willing to part with, even on loaner status.

man i wish i could go!
the wife has me on lock down... i still have an order in for some high quality bimaris and black pine pairs that haven't hatched out yet and those are gonna set me way back!... She says i'm cut off of buying anything and ya know i cant drive down and come home empty handed lol! let me know if there was any booths with some good pits would ya?
you got a deal on the albino! i started looking a little today and if all else fails i could get ahold of the guy who picked mine up, the male wasn't too bad, i will try to find something closer to the quality you got going there first!
here is one of my LA's since you asked about em! generic female sold to me as a "bienville" has no data or traceable back ground, she is spot on for some that are documented though!

I think you have a future champion there. Although I'm in MO I no longer know any KC area breeders. Sorry.

I don't really know much about these, but I have a pair of CB 08 Christmas Mountain pits. The male is excellent. The female is just nice looking. They did not develop strong color until late in their second year. Wish I could show pics. I keep them in a divided cage. Due to my poor cage security, they got together and bred last year and again this year. I kept a pair from last year. They have not developed nearly as much red as yours, thus my high estimation of your snake's potential. I have 9 eggs. Wish I could keep all the babies to see how they turn out.

BTW, my adults were typical fireballs when young but have become docile. Hope you enjoy your snake.
