3 new hognoses

mkv Aug 13, 2013 07:19 AM

Hi

I got 3 new hognoses yesterday.

The two normals are males and 66% doublehet for snow.
The albino is female and 66% het snow.

What do you think of the trio. I hope them to prove out being het for snow.

66% DH snow is misleading.
Each male is actually a 45% appx. likelihood of being DH snow.

You have a 70% chance appx. of at least one male being double het for snow and 20% chance appx. that both are.

Good luck
Jonny

Doctors say that Nordberg has a 50/50 chance of living, though there's only a 10 percent chance of that.

Hi Jonny

Each male has a 66% chance being het for albino and 66% chance being het for axanthic.

This makes them 45% possible het for both albino and axanthic?

Anyway I hope to score whenever it is time to breed them.

These are my first hogs. Is it common that they vary this much in coloration as these two males does?

Yes - 45% for both.
66% = 2/3
2/3 x 2/3 = 4/9 = 44.444...%

Makes perfect sense. Thank you.

However, the males look a lot different from each other.
One of them is much more red than the other. Is this common?

Also, are there several albino-lines in hognoses as there are in boas, retics etc?

Thanks again.

Yes the normal vary a lot in coloration.
With regards to your question about albinos, I'll let Troy answer that. He will give you the most technically precise answer.

Great, thanks.

Also I hope Troy can answer what "albino" I've got my hands on in that case.

Yours is a regular albino (aside from the 66% het part, of course).
