The green tree frogs have been busy on my property this year. At times I have to walk carefully there are so many about. We have had an extra rainy wet season this year, and there are several seasonal pools that have formed on my 2-1/2 acres. I do not use any pesticides or chemical fertilizers and am flanked by a 5 acre undeveloped woodlot on one side and another 2-1/2 acre vacant propery on the other side. When the wet season first started there was an explosion of mosquitos, but once the first round of tadpoles matured, there was a drastic reduction of bugs. All of my fruit trees are loaded with frogs and virtually pest free. There are also about 20 small green treefrogs that have taken up residence around my porch light. Normally I have to open the door and slam it shut behind me to avoid letting a swarm of bugs in, but now there are scarcely any bugs around the light on account of the garrison of frogs guarding it. I love it, I am thinking of hanging a small wooden humid hide on the wall next to the light for them to take refuge in during the day.
