I think Bob Mackin did, if not he was close. If I remember right, Dennis Miller had caught over 200. I'm close but I lost count. I caught my first one nearly forty years ago and I lived in alterna country for several years in the eighties so 100 seems like a lot but not over 40 years.
HAHAHAHA........
I would not want to find 100 if they looked like that!!!

You want to talk to Steve Boyd.
We have only found 11 alternas. But I want to chime in to have a look at the ratio between the number of nights spent hunting vs. the number observed or captured in the wild. We've looked for 80 nights. The ration is just about 1 alterna for every 7 nights spent looking for them. If this ratio is to be accepted as a valid representation for others who have found alternas, then one would have to spend 700 nights to score 100 of them.
If you want to break it down like that then you have to look at where your collecting. One in seven nights in Langtry, not so good. One in seven nights in black gap is alterna heaven.
I've found about 13(including several which were found with a partner) and I probably have about 125 nights. I think it's alot different if you live close enough to be able to pick and choose, coming from out of state I get a 7 - 12 block of nights but often only a few of those nights are really prime conditions.
I agree with Ricky, it depends on where you're hunting too.

There are several people who have found over 100 alterna, in fact there are several that may have caught as many as 300. It is not a fair assessment of other people's skills at finding alterna comparing them with your success. You are right, if it takes you 7 days to find one, then one might think it would/should take you 700 days to find 100. There are people out there that have actually caught 4 or 5 in one night and some that have caught 15 to 20 in a year. Knowledge, skill, luck, weather, and perserverence are all required to be successful. Also, as they say in the real estate business, location, location, location. It has been known to be easier in Langtry vs. Blackgap or the Huecos. We have all known for many years that Alterna are probably the most common snake in some parts of West Texas. They are an animal that one needs to KNOW to find regularly. Some are field herpers and some are keepers. It does pay to know your niche.

I'm sure Craig Hodgson probably makes the list but don't know that for sure. How about Troy?
