Who is producing very nice miami's?

wisema2297 Sep 12, 2013 08:53 PM

Tried this on corn forum but nothing seems to be real active here anymore!

I tried looking up Carol Huddleston but his site hasn't been updated since 2010.

BTW, where did everyone go? I was out of the hobby for about 4 yrs (divorce, new house, teenagers etc)and was surprised that I could still log on. There doesn't seem to be any where near the amount of posting going on as then. Did people go elsewhere?

jorge sierra has some awesome ones, and he just hatched out a clutch this week.

for the most part, everyone has gone over to facebook. there's plenty of groups started by members here.

jorge's is probably the most popular. it's called colubrid crazy - https://www.facebook.com/groups/ColubridCrazy/

i work with tri-colored west mexican lampropeltis. some morph, some hobby, and some locale.

everyone is entitled to their options, but no one's opinion will ever change how i feel about the snakes i keep and breed.

When I can't find a certain snake on the Classified section here, I use Google searches to find local dealers. We have a handful of breeders here producing quality animals. In early July, I got a 17-inch hatchling Miami from my local PetCo. Their stores in my area have surprising specimens at times, including of other species.

One former dealer on the east side had two rehomed California Kingsnakes of rare morphs: Carlsbad Wide-banded & Los Angeles County Coastal

My Miami morph has burgundy red saddles, and the chalky gray sides are so light that they look almost white. (The caramel tan hidden among the gray coloration seems to fade at a distance, quite an optical illusion.)

Where have the Users gone? To Facebook? I have concerns, since I see a pattern developing seen previously:

1. Provide free social media that "hooks" millions of users. (Gmail is the same thing. It is constantly & secretly monitored.)

2. Lie about privacy rules. If any governmental agency sends a National Security Letter, provide whatever is asked, regardless of the illegality involved. (Documented corporate & governmental privacy crimes abound, such as news stories of NSA Spying.)

3. Provide User data to other corporations to further enrich your Facebook empire. (Read the headlines in the Progressive news sites. Facebook accounts are one of the most compromised sets of personal data ever known on our planet.)

I hope that the new trend fades and Herpers return to using local, non-deceptive, non-compromised sites to interact. As a savvy IT professional of over 30 years, I have major concerns about using "free" services which continually violate Privacy laws.

Every one of us must learn to take our freedoms, privacy & social framework much more seriously. If not, *we* will be the animals being fed & watered in cages.
