Mt. Kingsnake blood lines

mwentz Sep 29, 2013 10:17 PM

So, I just got back from the Sacramento show, and had a great time meeting people, and talking about reptiles and amphibians.

After today, I am wondering about different blood lines of L. z. agalma (and all other Mt. Kings including pyros). What are the different bloodlines and their characteristics?

I have an Allan Bartlett line Juarez local agalma, and it is characterized by reduced black.

ones that I have heard of but cannot find much info on.

Agalma - Merker, Voss, Katz, Lynum

Lets get this forum posting again!

Don't know much about those bloodlines. I don't think Merker works with them anymore? Bob Hansen of SierraHerps has a good bloodline of Juarez range agalma. You have to be careful nowdays because some lines have been crossed with Martir or other subspecies. Bartlett's Juarez line was pure but he is getting out of them now. You are lucky to have gotten one, post pics if you get the chance!

Here is some other Mt. King lines I have found.

pyros- Applegate- of course people have heard of this line/morph, greatly reduced black

Baubel- another line I see often, greatly reduced black, however a little more than applegate

Baylin- I don't know much

Knobs- Opferman- I don't know much

Megaband, Highsided, Clown,

Obviously locality specific can be a line, but there can be sub-lines within a locality.

Have fun everybody

-Aaron, I would post a pic of my Bartlett line girl, but she is pretty skittish, and it seems to stress her out just opening her enclosure. My two boys (Bob hansen agalma, and a Dan Voss x Lynum) are really calm, and eat like pigs (they would eat until they exploded, if I let them!). I will try and get a pic of my boys, but every time I try to, they move out of focus. but that is what happens with a crappy cell phone camera!
