PIC Wild Gopher Hatchling

rcreek Oct 27, 2013 09:08 PM

This is the snake from my previous post "funny story from an ER". Based on what I have learned about when they hatch in this area (Utah), I figure it can be no more than 2 months old. I think that it is also possible that it is a more recent hatchling if the eggs were laid later in the season. As I have mentioned it is now successfully eating thawed pinkies.

What do you guys think of it as a great basin gopher specimen?

Good looking hatchling. They grow fast, and from my experience with juvies and hatchlings from a few SoCal locales, their patterns can change a bit as they get older. I fell in love with Great Basins back in 2007 when I saw my first one while herping out in Palm Springs.
