tomdickinson Dec 27, 2013 07:34 AM

Anybody have any tips? I have shipped plenty of small snakes, never anything this large though. He's about five feet and he's going across the country. Thanks

Obviously put in a well sewn bag in a well insulated container and use competent carrier. SYR has worked well for me. Do not ship if during a shed cycle, as they may aggressively probe with rostrum and trauma likely.

Do what is appropriate regarding temps, including heat packs or cool packs, and not shipping if extreme weather events and delays are likely. Shipping is often risky, as you lose control and it is handed over to folks who treat your package as just another commodity. Often shipping employees don't know their own companies rules, so make sure YOU do. Pack carefully, as your package may be tossed about, the shippers do not treat them (typically) with the care a good keeper does. Ship early in week so your package does not get delayed over weekend.

Good luck, you will be happy when it is successfully concluded.

And include all the required documents and label the box appropriate information......if this isn't done and contents are inspected."..there are several possible consequences.........none of which you need to experience......
