Making ends meet?

mingdurga Feb 26, 2014 03:49 PM

I have a 100 gram anaconda het albino going at it with a 250 gram albino female for weeks now. Checked them several times and his head is even with the female, but the rest of him if falling way behind. Maybe they lock up at night, but he's way off base now.
Hopefully he wises up soon and reverses his engine.

How old is he Mike?

Maybe he's just taking a ride to wear her out, you know these girls nowadays just want to be chased around before they give it up

CB 7/2011. Thought I had a lockup last sept. but nothing happened. Cooled them down for 2 1/2 months for this season. Have a smaller female that's more his size but want to wait till she gains more weight. She's over 150, and have been there already in an earlier post about females and weight. She's wolfing down small adult mice while the male is still on x large fuzzies.

First your female must have ovum in order for any copulations to be meaningful. That is, once she produces ovum and they enlarge, she will then emit pheromones and she will cloacal gape. That is when everything becomes meaningful. Until then, the male is just being a male hog and hoping and praying she cycles. Its all good. Best wishes

What Frank said above. It is a very good sign your male wants to breed like he is doing. You and him just have to wait until she is ready. He should be a good breeder for you.

I see an actual lock up in very few of my successful breedings. You're lucky if you catch a glimpse, but if you leave the two together for 24-48 hours at a time, like I do, they could mate several times during that period, and you might never see it. It will happen!

I experienced exactly what Dan described. I introduced a male several times, never witnessed copulation, therefore was quite surprised to find the female gravid w/12 eggs.
