hognose heating help

diego32 Mar 20, 2014 06:14 PM

I got 2 hognose snakes recently and set up their vivs from Petco. I bought a digital thermometer to check the temp of the hot spot and temp of the middle of viv. The hot spot was always 110 F and middle was 84. I disconnected the heat mat and moved the lamp to the hot spot instead. The hot spot is now 97 and middle is 82. Are these good temps for the snakes? Help appreciated.

Setting up temps like that is a start, who tells you if their good or not is the snakes. If they are doing great, then it doesn't matter what the thermometer or I say.

There are two separate parts of this, temps and usable temps. The temps must be applied in a way the animals use them. The last temps you reported are in the ballpark. How are they working?
