Texas snake (Dead)

First I'd like to say unfortunately the snake was killed. I didn't kill it. I let my dog out and he was sniffing at a single spot for a little while. Noticed it was a snake, so I sent him inside and snapped this photo. It went into my neighbors yard and that's how it ended up dead. I'd like to know what kind of snake it was.

If you want to use dropbox, you have to right click on the file in your dropbox and get the actual link.

Agreed, harmless Broad-banded Watersnake.

This is one from the Sam Houston National Forest in east Texas.
