I have not seen one of these in a decade, and Mar 27 I found two of them, both adults, about 1/2 mile apart.

The habitat for one of them is old grassland and non-native plants, a favorite for Cal kings here. The site for the other one has been restored to coastal sage scrub. I have yet to find a Cal king in the areas converted to coastal sage scrub, not sure if it is not to their liking, or if they do not need to surface in that habitat. Just don't know yet.

Some of these can be really pretty, and some are not. This one is not.
