A quick question about staining a tank

MimC Apr 06, 2014 10:52 AM

Hey Guys!

So I am hoping this will be a quick and easy question...

We are building a new tank for my Uro, the tank is almost finished and the only problem I have is what to seal/stain the wood with?

I am just not sure what is safe to use in the tank since the wood will be exposed to pretty high temperatures and I dont know how that works as far as fumes or toxins for the lizard? So...what should I use to seal/stain/finish the tank?

Thanks

Have you considered tiling the floor of the cage and sealing all seams with grout? Easier than you think. Makes it heavy, yes. If you can live with that, then tile the floor and just paint the walls.

Might want to ask specifically on the forum for eros.

I have always used tongue oil which is what they finish wooden dishes with, but I am not really sure how that would hold up to the heat. I know it is non-toxic. Do you have a Rockler store in your town?
