Coast Zonata 2014

zach_mexmilk May 25, 2014 04:26 PM

The first half of 2014 has been great for me in regards of finding Coast Mountain Kingsnakes in the field.

Lampropeltis zonata multifasciata are my favorite local, native snake species- have been since I was a child!

Enjoy!

What elevation are you finding those? Are you flipping them or are they out on the crawl? Those're gorgeous. Still my "white whale", as they are one of the 2 local (California) species that have avoided me.

All the ones this year have been found under rocks or logs.

I have only found one on the crawl- crossing the road.

Elevation wise, I am generally in the 2000 feet range.

Highest I have found them in Santa Cruz county is at 2526.00ft
