For the record... part 1

Gregg_M_Madden Jun 20, 2014 07:16 PM

I just want to make a few things clear. I realize that a couple of my posts have come off the wrong way and actually upset a couple of people who I did not want to upset. To set things straight here so everyone knows, Frank and I are not buddies or pals. We share some of the same ideas on how we should approach husbandry for these animals. And that is to experiment and see what works best to support their needs and functions. That is as far as it goes with Frank and I.

I really do understand why many of us get upset with Frank. I even get upset, especially when he comes down on people who I consider friends of mine. Frank and I have butted heads on this forum and others. I have learned over the years to just not argue with him and that is why I don't even when I really feel compelled to do so. That is what I was trying to convey to my fellow keepers and breeders.

I would also like to say that Troy and I are tight. He is my best friend in this hobby and he is not only one of the biggest egg heads I know but he is also one of the more open minded people I talk to and we bounce husbandry ideas and other topics. That is for anyone who thinks otherwise about him.

Jonny,
You are another smart guy who I have respect for. I said what I said to you bellow because I want to have conversations with you without feeling like my ideas and opinions are being thrown to the side so you can make your point. It is almost like the mille of my sentence is interrupting the beginning of yours. My other point was to let you know that while ragging on someone else for not being polite and allowing them to get their point across, you do the same thing. While your way is obviously less offensive, it is just as impolite. I did not bring it up because I don't like you. It is quite the opposite.

To anyone else reading this... If my post somehow upset or offended you, I am sorry. It was not my intent to upset anyone. I was just trying to help defuse some of the drama on this forum so we can all get to what should really be bringing us here, and that is the awesome snakes we all love to keep. These silly little hognose snakes.

Good post fellas. Almost brought a tear to my eye!!! Just kidding. Nice to see we have some good friends on here that give great ideas. Now we need to start putting more pictures of these beautiful snakes on here. Who's gonna start???

Good looking Hogs, man. Is the normal looking one het for anything?

Thanks! That picture was taken several years ago. The male (normal) is het Axanthic, so I was trying to make some poss. het Snows from that pairing. Unfortunately, that particular pairing never resulted in any eggs. Ironically, the female was paired with other males that resulted in hatchlings as well as the male with other females, but together as a pair they crapped out for me. It's not the first time this has happened to me and I find it interesting how some pairs almost seem to be incompatible to some degree. Just another discussion I'll have elsewhere. Anywho...

Just for the record, I'm actually done with this forum. Too much negativity and BS. I only responded to you because you asked and I didn't want to come off like I was ignoring you.

Thanks again for the compliment and question!
