DORs, to post or not to post?

lenrely Jul 23, 2014 12:14 PM

Until recently I didn't photograph DORs (too grotesque) but in the past few days people have chosen to kill so many unusual specimens right in front of me I wanted a record and these species ended up in a roadkill study. But I question whether to post them publicly, perhaps by making them seem more lifelike (see rattlesnake). I see an increasing number of photos of just mangled flesh and bones.

I have photographed and tried to post DORs in a more natural fashion. I have never taken much heat for it. I see more DOR posting when it is as you said an unusual specimen.

I believe it is the Field Guide to Western Reptiles and Amphibians by Stebbins/Peterson (or is it the Eastern and Central guide that enters Mexico??) that shows a beautiful Mexican rosyboa. That snake is actually a roadkill, just hardly damaged outwardly. Look at the mouth on it.
