Can shredded carboard be used with hogs? I have an endless supply of it and I was wondering if it could be used. Any info would be great

Thanks

You can use it. My question is why? What would be the benefit? It will most likely create dryer conditions in the cage, which contrary to popular belief, is not very good for hognose snakes. It will amplify smells from waste and mold up when wet. My advice would be that being there are so many better substates out there, you should scrap the idea of using shredded cardboard.

Its up to you, paper products are highly absorbent. Which is good for cleaning, but bad for the snake. Snakes lives are dependent upon staying hydrated. And with hogs, drinking water is not how its done. They do it by living is soils with a neutral humidity. not wet, not dehydrating.
Such materials as aspen, and pine shavings are not very absorbent. Sandy soils are what hogs occur in, and work well, but can be a pain in the arse. So it depends on whats important to you. personally, I would not use it for several reasons, the above, and the chemicals used in glues and those added to paper to make it cardboard.
