I came here with a mission, that was to make and set up cages that would express what hogs are and do. I asked if anyone was doing such a thing. I also mentioned, I was not interested in rack system keeping. And mentioned, I was part of their development.
I also said, what my goals are, and what my models were, which was natural hognose.
In that no one offered help or experience, I set out testing, as many conditions as I could. From rack system, to large cages, to deep substrate, to many kinds of substrate. Which to me is only normal. As one who build exhibits for a living, its good to have the background information before you build a cage.
I also expressed my interest in field work and that I was looking at hognose. And I am. I specialize in behavior, which is ethology. There are rules of study that are specifically designed for behavior. I already listed these many times.
!. observation 2. naturalistic observation and 3 participant observation. Three areas used in ethology.
Number two is, naturalistic observation which involves setting up specific conditions to express specific behaviors. Its here, I wanted to build a cage that could have the ability to express several types of behaviors. The cage I am building now is based on that.
With varanids, I also did this stuff, but was forced to have many cages for one pair or group of monitors. I most likely will have to do that as well.
In the meantime, I am also working of producing a new morph, which is opportunity based, I found them and hope to not waste that opportunity. Much of my testing was with this morph, as well as normal phenotypes and westerns(control animals)
With that in mind, lets go to pt 2

What resulted from this forum was odd, but normal. I explained, I was not going to rock your worlds, what I am doing is not about this hognose trade.
Then of course I am now different and get attacked, attacking here is being asked leading questions, that will allow the attacker to twist and turn the responses out of contest to disparage. And this occurred regularly by several. Most stopped or left.
These folks make every attempt to convince me, change me, and pester me into being like them. I am not, and good luck with that.
Some like nastiness, attacked, each little step along the way. Which is naïve and childish. Twisting and turning to a point of insanity. Nastiness keeps with his stupid ideas that, shoeboxes are torture and I am against that. Funny part is, I never said that. I said, I am interested in hognose behavior and want cages that express that. I never said, rack type are bad and people that use them are bad. And in fact, I can use them and will use them as needed. But I will also have other type cages as well.
As you can read, nastiness keeps making attacks like your keeping hognose in racks and that's torture. Nasty, guess what, you are now insulting the vast majority of hog keepers. Your calling all of them bad folks. Your insinuating they all torture their animals. I did say, its not the best way to keep animals, and most with a heart in their body would agree. I do question why folks have a need to take everything normal to an animal and replace it with something foreign to it.
All in all, Nastiness and caracal remind me of my grandsons. They poke and prod me like mad and cry like little babies when the I pokes back. Yup, that is you nasty and you caracal, you twist and turn, poke and prod, then cry like a baby when I poke back. Being the big kid I am, I will poke back. And that has nothing to do with snakes. You stated and I quote you FR,

That is nothing less than torture to force them to display what you want to see. Get your own words correct FR. Set them up in deep substrate all of the time and leave them be to be hogs.

Your probably right, but he's more interesting then Pscyh 2, I think he's played out, arguing with pics that show otherwise, is a bad approach. He's fun to play with thought. Oh well, back to cage building.
