Awesome! congrats, Frank.
Thank you, now theres two heads sticking out. I did not have have great success, but I had success enough to be very happy. Thanks again.
Very cool Frank!
If you're looking to gift a pair, I wouldn't mind.
Haha
Congrats Frank. Can you post pics of the parent animals and their bellies? If these are indeed true axanthic kennerlyi, it would absolutely be a captive first.

There verified axanthics, no problem with that and its genetic. Now on to the next pair of white axanthics, then the next pair.
heres my white axanthic male, when I found him, hes much bigger now.
Cheers
"I did not have have great success, but I had success enough..."
As you know we can all learn from successes and failures. I would be interested in what you failed in and what you think was the cause of it.
Btw congrats on the clutch.
Of course you would, so you can twist and turn and disparage. I don't mind that, that is all you know how to do.
I had two issues, low fertility and incubated with a new(to me) method that turned out to be too humid for hogs. Once I went back to normal incubation it went well.
The fertility issue is most likely based on the male(tiny) being to hot.(or the female being too hot) Which is normal for around here when its june or later. By the time it hits june here, its to dang hot. My other colubrids are done copulating by april, when its still cool at night. But that will be a trial and error type of thing.
Also next year, I will have access to three axanthic males, all older and more developed then the one I used this year.
Next year I will have complete control over temps, even if they reproduce mid summer.
Because my hogs were all neonates, I did not cool them until Feb to achieve enough growth. They also took longer to cycle after they warmed up. I did not know their pattern of cycling, now I do. So I will know when to have the male(s) ready.
Lastly, I have no interest in producing numbers and hogs make too many offspring. In that, I am happy to have produced the first kennerlyi axanthics, and some wonderful neonates to work with.
I was interested in hatching size and pattern intensity, as its an indicator of what is going on in the field. Normally, neonates in the field are about double hatchling size before they surface. That is normal for all species around here. In the last few nights, we have seen four species of neonate snakes. All were much larger then hatchlings. Here in southern az. the baby bloom is in sept. yet the snakes hatched earlier, late june, july, early august, but do not surface commonly until Sept, Oct.
So twist away mister Nasty, I cannot wait to see what you come up with.
So basically what you're saying is that despite all your delusions of grandeur and attempts to belittle everyone on several forums here on KS by acting like you know it all when it's painfully obvious to everyone but you that you don't, you're still learning just like the rest of us.
So how many babies/eggs did you kill this season?
Heres the deal, your the one with illusions of "my" grandeur. I simply work with snakes and over the years have been very successful.
What you make of that is yours to make. I could careless. Again, my work as added a new morph to the hobby. That I am proud of.
That I do things my way,(whatever that means) is a threat to you is exactly why I post here.
What is scary is your concern with what I do. That makes you a very weird person. I could care how you keep animals or what you do, After all its yours to do. But your concern over me, Wow that is amazing.
As I mentioned a while back, you seem to have a massive insecurity problem. Attempting to disparage at every turn. The only thing your doing is showing everyone else, just what kind of person you are. Good luck with that and keep on being the small person your are. Best wishes and good fortune to you.
Vey cool animals and congrats, Frank. It's always nice when hard work comes back to reward you.

P.S. I'll be in Sierra Vista next week. If time permits I'll take a swing on that road in SC. Or have a couple beers at the Stakeout lol! Again congrats.
Thanks Paul, I just got back from the Anaheim show. picked up a couple of hogs from Dan Krull. he was generous enough to donate to the action and I was not going to be outbid. Let me know when your down here. Again thanks and its fun work, but a lot of it. As you know and do, one does have to concentrate and keep at it.
Hi Frank, Funny I was in Long Beach for a few days visiting home. Thought about going to the show but opted out. I'll let you know what's going on. I'm leaving for Sierra Vista tomorrow.

So answer up FR.
How many babies did you kill this year in order for you to learn?
How did such a cool thread about a new morph in kennerlyi being produced in captivity turn to [bleep] so fast? Unreal.
Because we are all 14 year old boys apparently.
Ask FR, he went off on his usual name calling spree after a simple question. Guess the all mighty FR doesn't like to be questioned but loves berating others.
I'm curious to see what his outcomes were using his deep nesting methods that he beats everyone up with all of the time. He, you and a few others claimed that you ended up with healthier more robust babies with near perfect hatch rates. It would seem that that is not case this time.
I'm not the only one wondering. My inbox is full of emails discussing this topic and FRs failures.
Your waste of time child. If your so concerned, do this face to face. Then I will take it serious. Best of luck in your life.
One last reply to you. One of my mentors and particularly in this area was the late Joseph Lazlo. A past curator of reptiles at S.A. zoo. I was fortunate enough to take him in the field to observe his first "Willardi" He was a very large man and for good reason. He simply amazed me with his knowledge of snake behavior, and all based on captives as he was too large to do field work. He taught me that you can indeed learn from both the animals in the field and animals in captivity.
While I was always the way I am, to question and test, requestion and test again and again. Joseph Lazlo was also like that and criticized for that as well. So watching that occur to him, educated me on the type of people that practice that approach. In most cases they are merely nice folks that cannot seem to accomplish much. So they become jealous and feel inferior.
About your inbox, that's easy, the worlds full of those that do, and those that whine. I am sorry your a whiner. Again, best of luck in your life. Oh how many have you killed? For your information, I have not lost a single hognose, not one. But I have lost some eggs. Now we can debate if that is actually killing. I am fairly sure, we ALL have lost eggs.
Joseph Lazlo? Haven't heard his name mentioned in some time. Still have some of his paperwork on sexing, probing snakes, etc.
Mike
Sorry I spelled Laszlo wrong. There is a facebook page for him, lots of great stories. Once I hauled Joe and a friend of mine around Ok city in the back of my Toyota truck. He never stopped talking about snakes.
