Male calking swollen base of tail

snakekate Sep 01, 2014 10:43 AM

Hello everyone, I need some advice on one of my adult male kings. The base of his tail is swollen and hard feeling. It's right after his vent, about an inch long. I have heard males swell a bit in breeding season, but he was bred earlier in the year and this has never happened. Doesn't seem to be bothering him, and he doesn't react to it being touched. I am still worried though, because it popped up so fast(over the last 3 days or so) Any advice or insight would be appreciated. I will try and post a picture.

Is there any noticeable red or brown discolored areas, or or scales that appear ragged and worn?

Or are there any fecal smears or crusting around the vent area?

No crusting or discoloration, just really swollen. Noticeable on the underside of the tail also.
