Need some help (legalish?)

Ok, I'm currently taking a veterinary science class and my teacher asked that I bring my snake in for the class to study, I trust her, so I did. Apparently by some mysterious circumstances, his heat lamp was broken so she put a 50 watt over him, which isn't hot enough, and I think he got a respiratory infection from the cold.
Should she be responsible for his vet bills?

In my opinion...No. He is still your responsibility, you are the owner and you made the choice to bring him in. She did not take ownership of your snake she just asked you to bring him to the classroom.
