It's a Garter Snake, completely harmless. I think you need some different "FB buddies" if they thought that this was a "Cobra" or a "Cottonmouth", lol.

Someone really thought it was a Cottonmouth? Wow. That's pretty bad snake identification!
Clearly an Eastern Gartersnake.
There is a Snake Identification group on FB which would have given you the correct answer.
