Help! My snake is not eating

MyPetClyde Nov 30, 2014 12:39 PM

Hello,

So I've had my pet snake Clyde for almost 4 years now. Every winter since I got him he goes on what I call a "hunger strike" until he gets laid. He used to be used for breeding prior to when I got him so I think he got used to that lifestyle and now pretty much demands a night to mate. I used to bring him to a local exotic pet store to let him get his groove on… and it worked every time; he'd lay with a female and then I'd pick him up the next day and then he'd eat his lil meal after.

Problem is, I live in Austin Texas and have called all the exotic pet stores and even went as far as to call Petsmart (they didn't even know what gender their snakes are or even how to probe to check! ugh) and no one has a female spotted python for him to mate with. I'm worried because it's been almost 2 months since he's last eaten If anyone lives in Austin or knows anyone that does have a female, please contact me ASAP if you (or they) are willing to let my snake mate. I might even just buy a female if he's gonna keep pulling this crap on me! Hahaha.

No reason to worry and is completely natural for snakes to go off feed during the cooler months. Not breeding will not hurt your boy. He'll eat when he's ready and when amb temps rise again.
