Morph or Wild-type?

stangirl87 Jan 11, 2015 06:29 PM

Ok, I got my kingsnake about 6 months ago at a petsmart (I know, bad move, but I was un-informed at the time) I have since then spent about three months trying to figure out what was wrong with him, because I was told he was a cornsnake, of course, not knowing anything about snakes at all, it puzzled me I couldn't find any pictures that looked like him. (go figure) Fast Forward three more months, and I finally figured out he was actually a kingsnake, and to my best guess, I *think* he's Hypo Brooks. Emphasis on the think. I was hoping you guys being so knowledgeable you could take a look at some horrible pictures and a horrible video and tell me what you think?

PetSmart gets its animals from breeders, or more likely from wholsalers who buy from breeders. In any case, they can have some fantastic animals. Maybe not the highest-end morphs, but good animals none-the-less. I have purchased a few over the years, and all are healthy adults now.

My opinion is that you have a lavender albino Florida king. Unless the pic color is off. That is cool, be happy.

Don't get my wrong, I love this guy He's very non aggressive and almost a little cuddly. I think he's close to adolescent now, because he used to eat like a horse and is a little less of a pig now. I am building him a really nice tank after some research so that he has enough room as he grows.

Now I just need some more research to see if he is Hypo, or lavender albino *sigh* my reading is never done.

Thank you for all the help guys, any other opinions are also welcome!

Yeah that is a hypo and definetly not a wild type Florida king.

lso the striping comes along with the hypo traits as the hypo effects pattern as well. But not in the hets (normals) only when the hypo gene is visible do you get various amount of striping.
