Blood Python not defecating

tickles Mar 28, 2015 10:24 PM

My blood Python has eaten four rats since January 10th, and has not defecated since then. Is this cause for concern among blood pythons?

I have kept all the blood python locales for years. All of them defecate from one to three months after eating several meals. When blood pythons do go, they really go and leave a large pile. I think this is typical of the species. Be certain your temps and humidity are correct and a temperature gradient is provided. Most of the time my bloods like cooler temps and seek out the cooler parts of the cage. You can also soak your python in a bath of slightly warm water just deep enough to come half way up the side of the body. That usually promotes defecation. I wish you all the best with your blood python. Bill
