Lump on back hind leg

zeusygoosey Jun 08, 2011 01:38 AM

Zeus is going to the vet on Tuesday for an allergy test but over the past few days.. I noticed a golf ball sized under the skin lump. Its hard. And there isn't one on the left hind leg either, or anywhere else for that matter. Its a few inches from his tail. I'm pretty worried. The first thing that goes into my mind is..cancer. I know you can't give a diagnosis, but I respect your opinion. What do you think? I'm definatly going to bring it up to the vet but more than one opinion wouldn't hurt. Thanks in advance.

It is impossible to say with any assurance what this lump is, but the possibilities include:

A tumor
an abscess
an enlarged lymph node
an allergic reaction, perhaps to an insect bite

If it developed overnight, it is likely NOT a tumor.
