The new dog site

I don't like the new Connected by Pets site. Looks like all dogs are thrown in together. Since the Shih Tzu board has gone Kaput I'll probably just quite the whole mess.

Gary,
Don't give up maybe we can get things running again. MaryLou was such a big part of the board. Hope you and Eloise are well and all the babies.

Hey Sally,
How are you and Trudy.
Beinn has had a rough year but doing much better now.

Trudysmom Jul 18, 2011 05:53 PM

I have been ill with my usual Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and then two years ago... Dysautonomia, specifically POTS, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Sydrome. Really awful.

Slowly making progress with integrative doctors. Lots of wonderful supplements have helped.

Trudy is doing great. She is ten years old.

Sally,
You have had your share. One day at a time, but it can sure be frustrating.

Hey Di! I was just thinking about you today and wondering how you and your babies are doing. Yep, Mary lou was the glue that held the board together. But, I don't understand why people just up and deserted the board. Phyl and some others were gone before Mary lou left. I had a period where I had some health issues where I didn't care if school kept or not and didn't post often.

Eloise has been sick for the past two years with first one thing then another with no cure in sight. My emphysema is getting worse and now I have congestive heart failure. My feet and ankles are swollen really bad. Just completed 44 radiation treatments in May for prostate cancer. My PSA dropped from a
12 down to a 2 so things look pretty good there.

Becker and Tootles are falling apart. With Becker it is first one thing and then another. He has pacreatitus, siezures. hip problems and now he is getting dry eye. The poor little fella just can't get a break. Tootles now has dry eye as well and started treatment for that yesterday. Then she has her UTI's and bladder stones. They are 10 now so I guess things will start showing up.

I'll bet you are now sorry you asked about us. LOL Let me know how things are with you and the babies.

Hey Gary,
Wow you are up to your ears in stuff. Sounds like its been rough all around. ((Hugs)) How do we get through it all.?

Beinn had a major GI bleed this year, a knee replacement and went blind but can now see thanks to Opthomology. Presently on high dose steroids but weaning for IBS. Poor babies.

I had a significant heart attack June 15th, 3 stents later almost good as new. Now a Type 2 diabetic.
When I figure out how to post pictures again will do so.

The two cats are wonderful.

Di,

It sounds like it has been a rough year for all of us but glad to hear things are going better for you and yours. We just have to keep the faith and not give up. If we give up the fight, all is lost. I'll be 76 Oct.1 and plan on making it to at least 80. My oldest son is type 2 and is on the pill. He needs to lose a bunch of weight as he is obese.

Did Beinn have surgery to restore his sight? How old is he now? They can now do amazing things in animal care, if you can afford it. We should be able to to claim their care on our taxes. LOL

No Gary,
No surgery just drops his sight was restored in 72 hrs. Severe dry eye, secondary to an antihistamine I was using for his allergies. He is wonderful now.

Di,

Both tootles and Becker have dry eye and are on the following meds.

What kind of drops did you use. Tootles is on Prednisolone Acetate, 2 drops to each eye three times a day, Cyclosporine, one drop in right eye every 12 hours and artificial tears ointment a quarter inch strip in righyt eye at 10pm.

Becker is on artificial tears ointment a quarter inch strip in each eye every 12 hours.

Same drops Gary Beinn has been taking once a day now with the tears twice, and doing great.

That is great, glad to hear it.

Becker had been going around rubbing his nose and eyes so we thought we had better see what his problem was. Like I said it was dry eye and he seems to be doing OK with the tears as he hasn't been rubbing now.

About a week later we noticed that Tootles seemed not able to find her boiled egg white that I feed them for breakfast while I am eating mine. Grabbed her up and her eyes were almost completely shut. Called the vet and told them she needed to be seen as soon as possible and they told me to bring her right in.
She had severe dry eye. Now almost a week later her eyes are big, bright and shiney. She also seems to be doing great and has a follow up with the vet this coming thursday. She fights like a tiger when we try to put the meds in her eyes. Becker just sits there and lets you do it. They always comment how good he is when they need to do something to him. He just isn't thrilled when he has to have his temp taken.

Are you still in Tennessee or did you go back up north?

Still in TN Gary. I love it here, but right now the heat is a bit much. I go back to work next week so that will be good.

Beinn goes out twice a day and cannot stand it any more than that LOL. He does not like it warm. Thank God for A/C.

Tn is a beautiful state. Have some friends that live around Knoxville and they love it.

So glad you are well enough to go back to work. My cardiologist keeps wanting to run that wire up my vein to see if I need a stent but I keep putting him off. Not too receptive to that procedure. I guess I am just getting tired of all the pills and health issues.

The heat and humidity are terrible here. Our two go out two or three times a day but don't stay long and I keep a close watch on them. Yes, I love our central air. Sure helps me with my breathing.

Gary,
The Cardiac cath is not bad I had three this Month, LOL and you would feel better if you needed a stent. This is the best I have been for the past year. As for work I hope I can manage.

Beinn is the same goes out three times and back in, heat today over 100 with a higher index. All you can do is look out and that works for me.
