Mojo is still over-excited about her but calmer today than yesterday. He always gets excited when he sees the pet carrier, since it used to be his and Pye had her first vet visit today.

He looked like he was going to jump up when Xander was taking Pye out of the carrier to go back to the safe haven of the crate, but he responded well to my "leave it" and just walked attentively beside him instead. I'm SO glad that I worked so hard on that command. It's multi-purpose and he's very responsive.

Pye is so darned cute and sweet *squeeee* *bounces up and down*

I'm uploading two more videos and Xander took a bunch of pics of her exploring the house for the first time today, so I'll be getting those up on the site in a day or so.

Pyewacket has such a lovely coat!

MizMo Apr 29, 2012 08:51 PM

Her coat is still developing. Her spots are more rosetted now than it was when we saw her at 4 weeks old. There are golden spots surrounded by black now. Her coat will probably get a little more golden as well.

It will be neat to see it change over time.

Risa already loves her and would bathe her if the kitten would stand for it. Eventually she probably will, since Pye is getting more comfortable with her by the day.

Mojo is being GREAT. He's much calmer than I thought he'd be. Honestly, I think he also missed having a cat around and he seems to realize that she's just a baby. He's curious and excited, but he's showing tremendous restraint. If I think he's too excited I'll move him to another room for a bit, but for the last few days, he's been out a lot more. If I tell him to leave her alone, he walks away or comes to me. I've been letting him know he's a good boy every time he behaves well.

I posted this in the bengal forum I joined:

"This evening, he was at the other end of the sofa and she jumped across it, not realizing he was dozing there. She landed next to him and backpedaled a few inches, then was trying to decide whether to climb down or under something. Mojo didn't move and didn't jump towards her, though he was very interested in this new development. I scooped her up and back towards me. She relaxed there for a bit and then the lil wench started stalking HIM. I watched her do the stalking pounce about halfway back across the sofa towards him, then she camped out behind a pillow like a kid behind a snowbank in a snowball fight, peeking over it at him. I called a halt at that point and put her back in the crate for a bit. I don't want them right on top of each other yet. "

We have a cat like this in our neighborhood. It is huge. One day my then 5-year old said "Mama, the baby jaguar is in the backyard again." I thought he was imagining things and I was laughing when I saw this cute exotic kitty. I haven't been laughing so much, though, that the owners let it out and it terrorizes the other animals in the area. It is skinnier than Brewster but as big as him. It has coloring like your cats. I would guess it weighs 15 or so lbs. It is tall and long.

Why do people do that? Especially with a hybrid cat, who is even more likely to be an aggressive hunter. I have read on bengal forums of people who let them out because of spraying issues inside the house with the males, but in that case, the better option is to build an outside kennel. Gives them their own space without them getting hit by a car or terrorizing the neighborhood.

My lil girl is an indoor cat. I might train her to take walks, but that's about it. Atm, she's a bit agoraphobic.

What you described does sound like a bengal.

They are certainly beautiful kitties! An outdoor kennel would be a good idea. This particular kitty had our neighbor's cat pinned under a parked car. It was batting at it and having fun trying to get it out. haha...another time it was chasing someone's small dog that was on a leash. I just hope it doesn't come after me when I'm walking Brew (although it might be funny). When I have seen it by itself it won't come near me. I have tried to call it over but it just walks slowy just out of my distance like it's too cool for me! hahaha
