Post-op Update

Brewster had his surgery yesterday. It was uneventful. It did not turn out to be a hernia, which was their hope. It was a mass, and they are not sure what kind, so it was sent to Cornell for pathology. The lump was between the layers of skin, not internal, which is somewhat of a good sign; however, the vet didn't think it looked 100% like a lipoma. It was atypical in appearance, so paws crossed that it's just some odd benign mass and not malignant.

He also had his teeth cleaned while he was under--boy are they white now! He didn't need any extractions, thankfully. His teeth are in great shape, just some wearing on the back molars. I know that it is due to the bone we give him. It is that super strong white hard plastic nylabone. It is our only option because anything else (nylabones and rawhide) he eats the whole thing in a day and then gets sick. The vet said the wearing wasn't that big of a deal and they wouldn't change anything.

He is wearing a cone of shame, and we also tried my son's undergarments. He's not too happy, but the pain meds seem to help. I just hope he feels better within the next day or two. He cries out every so often and I feel terrible!

He'll feel better in a few days!
Glad the surgery went well, and hoping the tests do come back benign.

Poor guy!

Nice to read that Brewster pulled through surgery. Will keep a good thought the results of the biopsy come back negative.

Between layers of skin, and not internal sounds pretty good to me. I'm sending good thoughts for good reports and fast healing!
