Lyme Disease or intervertebral disc?

TeamGenji Nov 11, 2012 11:22 AM

Hi Dr. Tobin,

We live in Northeast and he did get tick bites over the years.

What's been happening is that a couple of days ago he yelped and didn't want to drink water which he had to lower his head to drink (neck pain?) and I noticed that his back was slightly hunched. That night he was lethargic and panting, but the next day he was fine. Then today he slightly yelped again when he picked up a small kibble on the floor. He doesn't seem to be lethargic today. He eats fine and drinks fine. He even has tons of energy to run (I mean, RUN) in the yard and go for a walk. He doesn't favor one paw or limp at all.

I have Ledum 1M at home.

Thank you.

Oh my gosh, I am terribly sorry to post the same message so many times! The site got frozen..... I'm sorry.

He did play with other dog.... he does pull when we walk him and we use a collar, I'm going to start using a harness instead.... and he does chase squirrels in the fenced in yard. I have seen his head turned quickly when he reached the fence. And one time my husband didn't know that he (the dog) was still in the yard and closed the porch door, and he (the dog) ran to the door to get in and hit his head once. So my point is that he could have sprained his neck while I wasn't with him.

This seems like a neck pain. You could give him bromelain or Longlife, but it ould be best to bring him to a veterinary chiropractor. If you think it may be Lyme disease, and you have Ledum 1M, you could try giving one pellet 3 times a day for 3 days.
