My dog obsessively scratches herself

olive123 Jun 16, 2013 01:27 PM

I have a one year old pitbull/boxer mix. I have tried tons of medications to help with her allergies. I'm also feeding her hypoallergenic food from the vet. NOTHING IS WORKING! I am so so sad. She stays awake all night scratching violently... mainly her face, but also her chest. Right now her face is raw and red and bleeds a lot. The only thing I can think of is using a cone to keep her from being able to reach her face but she ends up pulling it off or chewing it until I have to throw it out. Does anyone have any advice for home made topical treatments? or vitamins? It seems as if she has OCD or something, because the vet scraped her skin and found nothing wrong with it. THANK YOU!

One of our dogs had super itchy skin with red bumps all over. Nothing worked until we tried giving him a tablespoon of yoghurt each day. We heard the probiotics in yoghurt could help. And within a week no more itching and never has had a problem again.
