Help with injured gf please

harn Mar 12, 2005 06:02 PM

the other fish seem to be nibbling at the injury...should i move the moor from the tank or would that cause unnecessary stress? or should i maybe move the other fish out instead?

also, anything i can do to speed up the healing process or keep the wound clean? the tank is in need of a change, but should i wait until my black moor is better?

thanks so much for your help in advance..

I would definately seperate the injured fish. Do you have a cycled tank ready that you can move him to? If not, then maybe a divider in your tank.

Melafix can help with the healing process. Just be sure to follow directions regarding the amount to add to the tank. If anything, err on the side of caution by putting and less then more. You can use it for about 10 days or so.

thanks!

and just to be sure ( i know its not the best picture.. ) but it -is- still just a flesh wound, right? it doesnt remind anybody of any kind of weird infection..?

just to be sure its not anything more than in injury can you get a side view of the whole fish and are any others suffering the same thing. an idea of tank size, tank mates and water changing regime and test results for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph would be really helpful too, thanks
